Cloudberry sour

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz cloudberry liqueur
  • 0.75 oz vodka
  • 0.75 oz lemon juice
  • 0.5 oz demerara syrup
  • 1 egg white

Instructions

  • Dry shake
  • Wet shake
  • Strain

Verdict

This is exceptional! There is faint cloudberry on the nose. Coming out of the shaker, the scent is stronger, but fades in the glass. The flavor is strong, though. Cloudberry is a powerful flavor of my childhood, where hot cloudberry jam is served over vanilla ice cream, and this is a strong reminder of that. It's an otherwise perfectly lovely sour with strong cloudberry flavors.

Very impressive head of foam.

Notes

I have had this bottle of cloudberry liqueur at home, and I've kept thinking "I bough this for something, but what?". Now I finally found this recipe in my list, and made the cocktail, and it's fantastic. I think it's possible to take this in the direction of a brandy alexander riff as well, with the cream standing in for the ice cream desert, which is where I normally use cloudberry jam.

Glassware

Coupe or Nick and Nora.

Depending on your Nick and Nora and your egg, this might be slightly too large, as it was for me. When in doubt, use a coupe.
