Derby Cocktail Tropicál

Ingredients

  • 2.5 oz bourbon
  • 1 oz pineapple juice
  • 0.5 oz lemon juice
  • 0.5 teaspoon white sugar

Instructions

  • dissolve sugar in lemon juice
  • add rest of ingredients and crushed ice and shake
  • dump
  • garnish with a lot of mint, like a julep

Verdict

A bit on the sour side. The pineapple is lost. Almost everything is lost, really. It's like a watered down glass of lemon juice. You can kind of feel the bourbon, but not enough. Dissolving the sugar in the lemon was probably unnecessary. Just go with simple syrup instead. You probably could save it, but you're better off making a [[Hawaiian Stone Sour]] instead. I also think you could have skipped the crushed ice here and just gone for cubes. The fact that it's already watered down makes be think it would have been better with cubes.
