Hot coke buttered rum

Ingredients

  • A medium size chunk of butter. Eyeball it. Perhaps 25g?
  • 2 oz. or 30 ml. Rum (Smith and Cross)
  • 4 oz. or 120 ml. Hot Coke (pour coke in a pot and heat it on the stove. Or nuke it.)
  • A dash of tiki bitters (Bittermen's)

Instructions

Build in glass without ice

Verdict

It's OK, but nothing special here. The coke isn't significantly transformed. I will drink it offered, but I likely won't make it again. I didn't have any tiki bitters, so I tried 2 dashes of Angostura. It changed it, but not for better or worse. I had just hot coke as well, and it's also not significantly changed from the cold. Surprisingly some of the bubbles survived. Smelled faintly of drain cleaner, but not in a bad way. Probably the acids. While I appreciate what the butter does in here, you could probably skip it.

Score

4/10

Notes

I remember making this, but I don't remember how much butter I used.
