Northwest sour

Ingredients

  • 30 ml / 1 Oz Pear brandy
  • 30 ml / 1 Oz Mezcal
  • 22.5 ml / 0.75 Oz Lime juice
  • 22.5 ml / 0.75 Oz Ginger gum syrup
  • 1 egg white

Instructions

  • Dry shake
  • Wet shake
  • Strain into ice-filled glass
  • Garnish with a lot of ground cinnamon

Verdict

Delicious and refreshing, but virtually the only flavor in there is mezcal. The dusting of cinnamon is very present, of course, but largely overpowers the rest. Delicious, but can be skipped.

I used pear liqueur, and I will redo it with pear brandy (xante), but I don't have high hopes, since xante is normally not good to mix with.

I used pear brandy (xante), and it's very similar to when using pear liqueur. Maybe slightly better balance between mezcal and pear, but it's still just a generic and tasty drink. Unremarkable but nice.
