Sparkling Mai Tai

Ingredients

  • 0.5 oz aged rum
  • 0.5 oz cointreau
  • 0.25 oz overproof rum
  • 0.25 oz lime juice
  • 0.25 oz orgeat
  • 4 oz champagne

Instructions

Don't shake this. It goes in the fridge to chill instead. Let it all the ingredients except the champagne chill, then pour it into a champagne class. Top up with champagne.

Because it should chill, you might want to consider doing more than one. Or if you don't care, do it room temperature, but with chilled champagne.

Verdict

Simple to make and tasty. Also no shaking, which is strange given that it contains citrus. Still a tasty addition to the champagne. It doesn't actually taste like a Mai Tai, but it it still works.

Apparently originally made by Martin Cate of Smuggler's Cove fame for Sunset.
